Now I just need talent to use it. I got it off of ebay, "damaged". Cut the USB cable and soldered it back together and it was good as new. I just need the rubber grippy thing for the Grip Pen. If anyone has a new (CHEAP) Grip Pen or a broken one, I could maybe buy it from you.

There needs to be a website where you can buy/sell broken electronics, besides ebay. That way people could unload crap they don't have room for, and others can take a change on fixing it or using it for parts.

Microsoft customer service is pretty good:
I bought a Microsoft keyboard from ebay, user best_buy_outlet. Got it kind of new, looked new but was sold as refurbed for pretty cheap. The only problem was the space bar was jacked up. Apparently, it was a very common problem with this brand, Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. You had to hit the space bar at the bottom or in the middle or else the plastic would bend; it was just enough to be annoying. So, I called Microsoft up and complained, and they said it was a fault in mine and they would send me out a new one. And by god, they did; didn't even have to send back the old one. Works great, too.

Posted some more art at my DeviantArt.

Some websites:
http://www.tvsquad.com/
http://springfieldpunx.blogspot.com/
http://kingocrayons.blogspot.com/
http://www.toycutter.com/
http://tomopop.com/
http://www.downloadsquad.com/
http://coolmaterial.com/
http://www.redferret.net/
http://io9.com/

Now my dog has to go pee.

Google Toolbar/Firefox problems

I've recently found that updated Firefox with the google toolbar has problems. The gmail button will only update with mails every other Firefox open.
Say the gmail button is working fine, checking for updates every hour or so, but when I close Firefox and open back up, the gmail button doesn't work. Using the drop down just says Refresh. Clicking Refresh, sometimes says Refresh (Connecting) other times, does nothing. Googling around, it seems no one else has this problem. So I'm posting this. Using Minefield (3.7asomething) worked for a while, but after the a couple of recent updates it stopped working again (1 update broke it, the next fixed it, now its broken again). But after hours and hours of googling I think I have found a semi solution. As long as the Options/Login Button wasn't on the toolbar it worked fine. It seems to be when reopening Firefox it doesn't login correctly. If you are logged out and change the button layout, then login and change the button layout you can easily see that it isn't logged in correctly.

So basically, every other Firefox open, the Gmail button doesn't refresh. To fix, remove the toolbar options/login button from the toolbar.
I have reported the bug to Mozilla.

A little story:

I've been out of school for a few years. Got lazy/poor and failed some classes and was put on academic probation. I've been too broke to afford to go back. I owed over $1400 for the last semester I was there, and had to start paying back the two loans I had gotten. So, I was mostly stuck in a position where it was pretty difficult to go back and finish college.

My girlfriend of almost 2 years has been bugging me asking "if money wasn't an option would you go back?" I would usually say something like "probably, but I still have to pay off what I still owe and what it would cost for upcoming semesters and I'm broke and not sure if I still like doing the same stuff, (3d animation)." That was enough for her.

For my birthday (Dec 17) she had it paid off plus half the tuition of a semester. For the past month she had been taking donations from all of my friends and family and her family for me to go back. Over a week after my birthday we are meeting her family for my birthday dinner (the original day was snowed out) and once we get there all my friends and family are there! We have a nice fun dinner and then she gives me the cards with the receipt of previous semesters paid off, and another card with the money for half another semester, or books. I had to hold back the tears in front of everyone. This is the sweetest, most thoughtful, nicest thing, ever. I just wanted to tell everyone that I have the best girlfriend ever (sorry guys, yours can't live up to her) and wanted to say "Thank you and I love you very much. And thank you to all my friends and family. I will not let you guys down."

Reddit link
Digg link

Raffstar account banned

Well it turns out Raffstar has banned my account. So, for example, you're watching some downloaded videos that you are sharing to your xbox360 via Windows 7 and you just noticed utorrent just finished downloading something else. So once you get done watching the first show you would like to go ahead and start watching the one that just finished downloading...but noooo windows 7 doesn't want you to. With Xp and Vista you could just restart the wmp sharing service, not so much with Windows 7. But I've found if you open Windows Media Player it will immediately find the files and start sharing them. So I've created a simple batch script that will open WMP and then close it. I have mine set to run at 10pm so most shows are done downloading and it will start sharing them. Just copy and paste this into a new txt document, then rename it to .bat.

If you know of another wait for WMP to search its folders more often or something, please let me know.

start "wmp" /min "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe"
timeout 5
taskkill /IM wmplayer.exe

Demonoid is back!!

After months of downtime from server problems and upgrades, demonoid is finally back online. I would also like to know where/what the other bot or bots are. If you know anything please send me an email.

I've read some stuff on raffstar that they have implemented "security measures" to prevent cheating. So far my account has NOT been flagged, as far as I know. It could be my bot runs like a normal person or because I don't use it religiously. If I'm using my computer I will cancel the bot. So I miss quite a few tickets. I'm still usually in the top 50 of the amount of tickets I have. And have had the chance to win a prize. I just didn't claim it in time. Either way it doesn't seem to be detected (yet)

Another shirt and links!

I've created another shirt! I was supposed to get it back on Thursday, but I was at work. So they left a note and everything and was going to try and deliver it on Friday. Well I called and tried to make pickup arrangements but the driver wouldn't be back to the pickup office before they close or I got off of work. So they ended up giving me the driver's name (Travis) and cell phone number so I could meet up with him after I got off of work. Everyone on the phone was really nice and helpful and they were very personal (as in they called me back a few times after trying to setup different arrangements). Needless to say I met up with Travis at a gas station on my way home (after going to the wrong gas station) and picked up the package. Everyone was REALLY nice and helpful and I just wish I would have thought at the time to offer to buy him lunch or something.

Fall 2009 Dashboard Update

I went to play COD4 tonight and low and behold it started to download an update. Apparently I was selected to participate in the beta test of the new dashboard update. Overall it looks pretty much the same. Most of the changes are minor. I have a new "channel" called Xbox Preview. In there lists the new features which are:

Party Reconnections

Streamline Party Invites

Gold Member veterans-your gamer card shows how long you've been a gold member

Subscription notification

fixing invalid windows live ids

better account recovery

avatar props-it seams you unlock these from games

avatar marketplace-you can buy clothes for you're avatar. some look pretty cool, they're 80mp for say a pair of steampunk glasses. which I HAD to buy, but thats IT, damnit.

Avatar awards- it seems you'll be able to unlock clothing and the props from getting certain achievements in games. Which seems a lot better than having to buy the damn clothes.

watch netflix in a party

browse netflix content faster based on previously watched

better playback

shows what you are watching in the Friends channel

ability to override display formats for dvi and hdmi

user ratings for all game content

Games on Demand-xbox originals, and it sounds like they may have xbox360 games to download. also game manuals for games on demand on xbox.com

DRM stuff- seems you still can take your profile to someone else's xbox, buy a game, then recover your profile on your account and redownload the game and you both can play.

community games are now called indie games

launch a game from the achievement browser

achievement tracking- an all games view which shows a summary of achievements from all games played

better achievement browser

more "links" for common items such as, downloads, redeem code, auto sign-in, create profile and recover gamertag

warning if no audio when sending a voice message-small feature but definitely will keep me from looking like a dumbass.

time stamps on memory area-such as for saved games

friends list sorting by activity, gamertag, or online status

So far nothing too big. So don't expect some grand like the jump going to NXE; this is a mild update. I would really just like to see more free stuff, or a way to see all the free stuff.

Downloaded episodes not playing correctly on Xbox360

For episodes you download from groups DOT or XII, re-encode them with GotSent so they play correctly on the Xbox360.
For about a month now, some groups have been releasing tv episodes that were encoded differently and they do not play correctly on the Xbox360. When playing one of these videos it will play about 2 mins then the video stops but the audio continues. The only way to fix this problem is to either wait for another group to release the episode, which usually doesn't happen, or re-encode it. I've FINALLY found a REALLY easy solution for Xbox re-encodes. GotSent
You can use other methods for better control over quality and all that, but this is SUPER fast and really easy. Handbrake was taking 30 minutes for a 45 minutes show, and it still didn't work or looked horrible. GotSent took less than 3 mins and looks like the original and plays fine.

New Shirt

Just a quick little shirt:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 296px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Wv-fEQyIpcw/SfFbLUd_FMI/AAAAAAAAABw/WMrst0yt5Ns/s320/Untitled-4.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328140084187174082" />
If you can't tell, this is a SkiFree shirt; the old Microsoft game. I'm working on finally installing Vista and ended up partitioning my other hard drive without thinking. And of course the Futurama Soundtrack was on there, along with about 40gb of other downloaded stuff. But the soundtrack is the only thing I really cared about. So, hooray for blind ambition and stupidity.

*UPDATE*
I tried and tried to recover the files, but no go. I did recover SOME music, but they were the tracks from the second soundtrack (from seasons 3 and 4). So it looks like there won't be a Futurama Soundtrack (at least from me) unless I get enough response to redo it. It consisted of 34 tracks containing music from the series and actual songs used in the series. Such as the Grunka Lunka song, and MMM Bop by Hanson (Anthology of Interest I, where Bender jumps on their concert).
:(

IE Sucks/I suck and other randomness

Well it seems <s>my blog is broken in IE8 and probably others</s> I suck and I have somehow killed my layout. I've made another bot, this time for the site Raffstar.com. I heard about the site on Diggnation. You sign up and go to each of the prizes and click to get a ticket, every hour or day. By going to the pages, ads are displayed and they make money, which is donated to the charity of the prize givers choice. Helps out everyone ;)

So I made a bot that goes to each of the prize links and clicks to get a ticket. I have mine setup with a Windows Scheduled Task. Setup a new Scheduled Task and view the Advanced properties on the Schedule tab. There you can set it to repeat the task every hour (or 61 minutes to be sure).

Unfortunately I have not won or even been in the top 10 of any prizes, but if you are, please post in the comments.

raffbot
*UPDATE*
I realized I probably should have put some info with it, but oh well. You first need to open IE and login and have it remember your login. Then just run the bot and it will read the URLs in the giveaways.txt file and go to each one and get you a ticket. You need to open IE and login and have it remember your login. You can use ctrl+alt+right arrow to skip a URL cycle. If it happens to crap out and open a million IEs, I've included close ie.exe which will close all IEs (just make sure you close it before running the bot again). Occasionaly it does screw up and either click too early or it won't close IE or something. I have some error checking, so it should get around it and continue on. Any problems just post a comment or email me.

Link to my MediaFire folder. (had to move because I couldn't remember my rapidshare password)
Also listed is my woot script and wmpnetworksvc script. The woot script just opens woot.com, used with scheduled tasks to open at 1:00am so you don't miss a woot. The wmpnetworksvc script restarts the service so it refreshes the shared files using Windows Media Player. I don't like having to remember to open iTunes and refresh my podcasts to make sure it downloads them. So I created a little macro that will do that for me. I have it set to run everyday at 5:30 (to make sure TRS is up), using Windows Task Scheduler. It opens iTunes, refreshes the podcasts and if there is any it waits until they finish, then it syncs the iPod and closes iTunes. I made the macro using AutoHotKey so you can use exe2ahk to decompile it and edit it, if you want.
Download Link

*Info*
The macro does take control of the mouse so it will work best if you run it when you are away from the computer.

*UPDATED* AGAIN
I made it so it searches if an iPod is connected; if not, it will just close iTunes, and it should work better now.

Stuffs in the mail!

Hurray for free stuffs. A few days ago I received my stuff from Playstation's RLS; which was a PS3 beanie, a Sony shirt and Sony belt. Shipping only took about 2 weeks.
I also got a $25 gift card for Best Buy from Boomertowne. Shipping took about a month or so. There ARE bots for boomertowne which make it slightly easier to get points, although it takes longer to get enough points because there is a <1000 point daily limit.

Boomertowne Bots:
Seatbelt99'sboombitches
WsRpKs and Slow958's Boomertowne Joke Bot 4.0
These bots were originally created for the cheatingnetwork.net but they have since taken down the boomertowne forums (and club live) so I cannot link to the original creators.

My rapidshare folder which I will upload and update various bots.

Tweaq's Super Awesome Flexibot Pro

Ok, so I started from scratch and made my own Flexicon bot: Tweaq's Super Awesome Flexibot Pro.
This is another bot for Microsoft's Live Search Club. It is MUCH more reliably than my/Precise's modded version. It auto plays the games and pauses itself on the captchas. Check the readme for more info.
Hopefully this can tide everyone over until the big daddies finish up their bots.

semi *UPDATED*

Download Link

*SUB-POST*
Check out Playstation's Retail Loyalty Site. You're "supposed" to be an employee of some store that sells games and consoles, but you can use Best Buy's Store Locator and find your local Best Buy's store number.
Search for your Best Buy then mouseover or copy and paste the Map & Directions link. It will say something like javascript:mapanddirection('STORE NUMBER','SOMETHING ELSE'). Use the store number to sign up for RLS, or any other store's store number you want.
Then you can do the quizes and accumulate points to buy stuff on the site. The quizes are really easy and you can take them multiple times. There is a 15 quiz a day limit, but that isn't THAT big of a deal (1500 points a day isn't bad, consider the PS3 games are 3450 points). I got a nifty mouse pad in the mail today (don't even remember ordering it) and I ordered a beanie.

Modded Flexicon Pro Revenge bot

I've used Precise's flexicon bot and made it semi automated. So I've made a little workaround, aka hack, to fix this problem. You have to make sure you have the codec on your computer (supposedly), so you can play the files. I use the k-lite codec pack, so I can play anything. And I use Windows Media Player 11 to share my media to my Xbox360 (the Zune software wouldn't share the .avi's). Anyway, you can rename the .m4v files to .avi and they will play fine on the Xbox360. I've made a simple batch script that will automatically rename all the files to .avi:

@ECHO OFF
cd C:\Documents and Settings\Tweaq\My Documents\My Music\Podcasts\The Totally Rad Show \
rename *.* *.avi

Just create a .bat file and put the four lines above in there, changing to your folder where your .m4v files are. You can have it rename as many folders as you need, just copy the bottom 2 lines and change it to the folder you need.
The only downside is that iTunes can no longer find the files and you have to delete them manually. A few Fragocitys (ETSU's lan party) ago we were trying to play some games. I had recently discovered the game Gunz. So I was trying to convince a few friends to play it by saying "DUDE, lets play some GUNZ!!!" I kept on and on, and eventually got a few friends saying it too. Now we say it at random times, such as answering the phone, using it as a euphemism for laser tag or halo3.

Guy 1: "FUCKING CORN!"
Usage: Anytime anything bad happens.
Origin: I was trying to cook corn. I tried to break what I thought was a sold block of frozen corn into two pieces, when the corn "exploded" everywhere; corn went everywhere. And the logical curse at the time was FUCKING CORN.

Guy 1: "...old style"
Usage: you can do anything old style:
"I'll kill you old style!"
"I'm going to drive this car old style!"
Origin: From a Duke Nukem prank that happened on Ventrilo. Some woman (or high-voiced kid) says s/he will kill the Duke Nukem prankster "old style". I saw the video posted on destructoid.com. Youtube

Guy 1: "Here's the dills (deals)."
Guy 2: "throw down those pickles bro, give us the dills"
Usage: Pretty self explanatory; someone is saying "here's the deal(s)"
Origin: The Totally Rad Show Episode 11: The Dills

Guy 1: "I think he's tasting Nickels!"
Usuage: When someone is freaking out or having a fit. Could also be used when someone is a bad dancer, throwing a tantrum, or generally acting in a stupid manner.
Origin: A lot of times before someone is going to have a seizure they say they have a metallic taste in their mouth. I have also heard someone specifically tasting nickel (I assume the metal).

Guy 1: "He's hot for your trot"
Usage: When another guy likes a girl, especially her ass.
Origin: I was telling some friends that I like d a girl, and that she had a very nice ass. My friend told another girl to tell her I was "hot for her trot."

Guy 1: "You're the news!"
Usuage: In response to any argument, especially if you are losing.
Origin: From Brian Posehn's music video, Metal By Numbers. I'm rating these by how excited I am that they are coming on, when I start to get excited, how great the writing and/or acting is, and/or how much of an emotional roller coaster I may go on.
Such as with The Office and Supernatural, I can go from actually laughing out loud to tearing up/crying. Because if I am that emotional over a show they have made the show very well; that I feel about the characters and/or story. And with South Park it is just genius writing.

In order of air day then awesomeness.

Futurama (Comedy Central when it returns)
Monday:
Heroes It is a non-profit "film" that anyone can donate to and be listed as a producer in the 90 minute credits. All profits made from the film will be donate to charity. And what's even cooler than that is that celebs are getting in on the action: from Pauly Shore to Seth Green to Stephen Colbert to Kiefer Sutherland (who has donated over $600).
So head on over to the1secondfilm.com, register, and donate at least $1 and become a producer; even if you don't want to help out a charity, you can become a credited producer.

Hack the Gibson Screensaver

A nice screensaver that looks like you are "hacking the Gibson" from the movie Hackers.

read more | digg story

Online Multiplayer in Emulated Games

With the news of TMNT Arcade coming to XBLA I decided to bust out Mame32 and play some TMNT. While that was fun, (even setting it up to control 2 (or even all 4) turtles at the same time using a controller was fun too), I ventured off to find some online play. And lo and behold there is an addon of sorts for most emulators, including Mame32. It's Mame32 with Kaillera to play classic arcade multiplayer games online. So here is a tutorial/guide so you can play online MAME (and other emulated) games.

1. Download a supported emulator. Right now there are 17 supported emulators, so you can take your pick but I'm only talking about MAME.

MAME Emulators- Mame32k seems to work better, but you may have better luck with HK2illera V9.
Kaillera supported emulator list

2. Download some games to play. Most people are playing the 2D fighting games: Street Fighter II, King of Fighters, and the Marvel/Capcom fighters. Although you can run whatever multiplayer game you want.

Rom Nation- I recommend this site, as all the roms worked.
Rom Hustler- also good, they have n64 roms.
Make sure you download the correct game for the game being played in the server. It's easier to identify the correct rom from Rom Nation as they list more info about each rom. I'm going into all the details of where to put the rom and how to set everything up, you can Google that.

3. Run your emulator and go to File> Play network game, Netplay, Kaillera or whatever.
4. Enter a username and select a server or enter the IP if you know a specific server, more on that later.

5. You will see the list of players at the right, the chat at the left, and the games at the bottom. Select a game that is Waiting and click join. You have to have the game to play, although in ZSnes you can (supposedly) send someone the game. You can also create your own game by clicking Create New Game, and selecting the game. Once enough people are in (with the correct connection speed) you can start the game.

6. ?????

7. Profit!!!

Running your own server:
1. Download the server from Kaillera
2. Edit the kaillerasrv.conf file to your liking. Such as changing the server name, location, url, or messages.
3. Run kaillerasrv.exe or your OS's equivalent.
When you refresh the list of servers yours will be listed.

While this method is definitely no Xbox Live, Xbox live also doesn't have The Simpsons, King of Fighters, Super Smash Bros, or any of the Marvel Fighting games. It's kind of touch and go but it works. I played Super Smash Bros at 320x240 @ 60fps. (as a test), there are occasionally hiccups but its definitely playable.

Digg It

Family Murdered from Guitar Hero 2 Song

&nbsp Brian Smith has been playing video games since he was a young boy; he has grown up with almost every console. But a popular guitar playing video game for the Playstation 2 has proven too much for even him. Brian claims that even before he finished the bonus song Yes We Can by Made in Mexico something in him snapped and he was compelled to murder his entire family. He stated "I was just trying to complete the game, I bought all the other songs in the game and this was the last one; it didn't seem any different". He went on to say, "I was playing the song and doing pretty good, but the song was really bad." Others have stated Yes We Can is the worst song in Guitar Hero 2 or anywhere else. Police are still investigating the matter of whether Brian had some other motive for the slaughter or if the game actually triggered or even "told" him to murder his family.
&nbsp Brian is still being tested for conclusive proof, but doctors have confirmed Brian has developed cochlear cancer. Tests are still being concluded on where Yes We Can was the cause of the cancer, or some other horribly song in the game. It is unknown if Brian Smith or RedOctane, the creator of Guitar Hero 2, will be brought up on charges. The State may try to rehabilitate Brian is tests prove the game was at fault.

Digg This Story

Damn these great prices.....they keep pulling me back in!

I discovered this site via dealsplus. It's called dealextreme. There was a deal on there for noise isolation earbuds for $2.68 shipped and I couldn't pass it up. After I bought those I then decided to browse the rest of the site, I know I should have done it beforehand but I got excited and ordered quickly. After browsing and telling my friend, Gary, he talked me into buying $13 worth of more stuff (he spent about $20). I ended up getting the earbuds, a LED power gyro wrist ball, compact led flashlight, and LED keychain light. All that for $15.91 shipped. I ordered everything on 1/23/06 and received the larger order on 2/3/07, which was the expected shipping time. The items are coming from Hong Kong so quality wise, I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. The flashlights are extremely bright and well constructed. The compact flashlight is a little jank on the inside, but once together it is very solid. And the gyro ball thingy works great and it is extremely addicting, even though my arms are killing me.

I am not getting any compensation for this post, I just think more people, specifically the nerds, should check out the site. They have all sorts of gadgets, accessories (iPod, gaming, camera and cell phone), cables, converters, dongles, adapters and loads of flashlights. They even have 20mw green laser pointers for $39.99 or the 5mw for $26.03 and free shipping on both. Actually, the have free shipping on a lot of items and the items that aren't free shipping, its usually less than a few dollars. They also have a pocket RC helicopter for $23.50 or a PS2 to USB converter for $5.90 or a 128 LED flashlight $25.68 shipped(if ordered alone) and much, much more.

As I said before, I'm not getting paid for this or anything I'm just trying to pass around a great site. So at least look around and check out all the stuffs. I will definitely be ordering more stuff.
Deal Extreme
Digg it and help spread the word.

*UPDATE*
I finally received the earbuds. They're not too bad. They look almost exactly like the Apple In Ear buds. I'm not much of an audiophile, but I can tell a difference; though it's probably due to the inear thingy. I can definitely hear all the static in my (crappy) mp3s. The bass could definitely be better, not even close to have a sub.
Its hard to get them to stay in my ear, so they stick out weird and look kind of dumb. You can tell the plastic is a little cheap and if you sqeeze the in ear rubber thing you can hear the plastic in the speaker sqeezing.
But other than than they are pretty good earbuds, especially for under $3. I will probably be ordering more with my next order.

Albert Pacino...MIA

As some of you may come to realize, Albert Pacino has been missing for 344 days; almost a year. Some of you may say "but Pacino has been in some recent movies and he's filming Ocean's 13". Well first, the most recent movie that Pacino has been in is Two for the Money from 2005 and second that is Alfredo Pacino.
I'm talking about albertpacino of Digg fame. If you have been on digg before December 6, 2005 then you would have more than likely heard of albertpacino or one of his stories. During his reign at digg one of his stories was featured on almost every episode of diggnation. albertpacino was the top user at digg during his time, but has since been surpassed by digitalgopher. Although he has been missing for almost a year he is still the 2nd top user at digg.

So I am asking the digg community, Kevin Rose, Alex Albrecht and the world, where has albertpacino gone? Was he in some tragic accident? Did he have to get rid of his computer? Could he no longer access the internet? Has he moved on to "better" things? Was he taken out by some big digg conspiracy? Did digg pay him off to give other users a chance? Was Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht sick of reading his stories? Did Jay Adelson have enough of this albertpacino fellow? Was he assassinated by the other top users or the digg community at the time? Could he no longer take the pressure of being the top user at digg? It seems that he just disappeared. There were a few users questioning his disappearance, there may have been a few stories, but other than that...nothing. Could digg really be hiding the top user?

As I am only one lowly digg user it is quite difficult for me to find him. Maybe Kevin or Jay could help us out, or if anyone knows him or an email address or anything. We need to find him or at least why he left; he just suddenly left, from all the cop dramas I watch, that screams suspicion.
I, and the few others that care, need answers! We miss you albertpacino; may we never forget.

2 Different JLA #1 Covers

Me and Shabazz have noticed that there are 2 versions of the Justice League of America #1 cover. The 1st print A and B cover, and one that is used for the 2nd printing and online (it's hard to find the A/B covers unless it's an actual scan). It seams the 1st printing cover is the new JLA arrangement and the 2nd printing version has the older JLA arrangement. In the new version The Atom and Elongated Man are missing, although Dr. Fate is there. Other than that, why is there 2 versions? Or why did "they" change the online covers to the actual printed covers?

The 1st printing covers:

The 2nd printing/online cover:

Another Funny UFC Screenshot

This is a screen shot taken from the recent UFC 64. While most people hates duplicates stories on digg, especially when they reach the frontpage, some people don't spend all day on digg (why not?) and they miss some stories or links. While I DO spend all day on digg I occasionally miss a story, too. It would be nice to have a Dupe category where users can submit top stories or good stories again so they have a better chance of being seen. And having the category seperate other users can filter out the Dupe category and not have it shown at all. There would have to be restrictions of the submissions of course, such as:

only stories older than 4 weeks that didn't make it to the front page

only stories older than 2 weeks that DID make it to the front page

the original submiter may be able to "resubmit" their story to the queue of upcomming stories after 3 weeks.

someone who has dugg a story could resubmit it after a a period of time.

Such as I submit a story, it doesn't make it to the front page, so after 4 weeks or so I could "resubmit" it by just clicking a button and it would add it back into the queue. A digger of my story may be able to resubmit my story after say 3 weeks (it's not as bad if someone that likes your story resubmits it, rather than you spamming it). Or my story makes it to the frontpage and I or a digger could resubmit it after 2 weeks and it could automatically make it to the Dupe frontpage, so others can read about it, without have to go and search for it.

Or you could just make it simple and after 4 weeks without it being on the frontpage you can resubmit it to the Dupe category, or after 2 weeks and it promotes right to the Dupe frontpage; or something similar.

I hope they (as in the Digg development team) could implement this feature as it would provide a place to read old stories that have been promoted and people would stop yelling "DUPE", at least in all the other categories.

There also seems to be a bug where the same story will appear multiple times on different pages. I've noticed this serveral times with different stories, where A story will be on the main frontpage, and also page 3 and 4 in different spots (under and above different stories).

Best comic book fan films/trailers

Here is the YouTube playlist The link goes to the Wired story. Someone has discovered how to hack an ATM (and set it up to give him free money) using the legally obtained operator's manual. Here's the CNN coverage of the intial hack:

Super thanks to dnthomps for the actual manual, that I tried to find (for a few minutes). Also Shabazz has to go to his cousins birthday party tomorrow, so we're postponing tomorrow's meeting. So for next week we're going to read Infinite Crisis, and maybe a couple of single crossovers. We're still recruiting and may have picked up a guy I work with, and Joseph may finally get in. So if you're local to me and are into comics, pick up Infinite Crisis and you can join us. We talked about The Return of Hawkman. A storyline within the JSA series. According to comicbookdb.com The TPB had the issues 16 through 26 plus the Secret Files and Origins #1, but according to the actual trade it was only 16 through 25. So you can select just the ones you want to download from the torrent above and read what you want, I read 26 and it was pretty good.

The story overall wasn't bad. The trade seemed more like two stories in one that slightly overlapped. The story before Hawkman returned was better. The way they brought Hawkman back was pretty lame and quick. Hawkgirl reached into the "magic well of spirits" or whatever and pulled him out. It was convenient because they needed him to lead the battle against Synn. I tried to get into these stories more, but didn't know who most of the villians were or what they were about, but I tried via wikipedia. Most of the battles were nicely done. Such as when all the villians bum rushed the JSA headquater and semi took it over (I just like seeing the heroes getting owned, I think it's because it makes the story seem more real if they're losing). Or Synn punching Black Adam to another planet only to have him come back later and punch him through the floating city. Or the Lizard guy eating Atom Smasher only to have him smash through his insides. The final battle was definatly the lamest part of these stories, Hawkman and Hawkgirl kisses and Synn (composed of Thanagar and Nth metal) explodes; seemed really rushed.

In conclusion unless you really like Hawkman, Synn, Thanagar or the JSA you could avoid this storyline as it doesn't add to much to the storylines. You could just wikipedia it. Also "they" messed up Hawkman and the Thanagarians flying. According to Wikipedia they fly via Nth metal in their belts, that allows them to defy gravity. But according to most newer stories (even Identity Crisis) he just needs the wings, which can be removed. (Shabazz noted during the "x-ray" shocking of Hawkgirl there were bones in her wings.

Next week we're probably reading Superman Red Son. We decided to read "The Fall of Hal Jordan". It was a short story arc from the Infinite Crisis Final torrent. It's not official an arc and it obviously wasn't, but we read it anyway.
The story picks up right after Mongul destorys Coast City, and Hal is pissed. So he goes after Mongul and tries to recreate his city, but the Guardians won't allow it. So Hal freaks out and wants ALL the Green Lantern power to recreate his city.
Shabazz didn't like this story, it is his least favorite of the three. I thought it was pretty good. I think we would have liked it more if we had read a few comics before and a few after. The art is obviously Silver/Bronze age, and we're not really fans, although it's better than what I can do, so I guess it's pretty great.
Hal really kicks alot of ass in this story, as in pwnage. I would have liked to see the Lanterns put up a little more of a fight though or team up or something. I know he was/is the best but he just mowed them down, even Sinestro (although we looked up later to find out what happened to Sinestro). That always helps with a story: Wikipedia. During a meeting we'll usually look up various things to get a better understanding and find out what happens before and after, which I think helped Shabazz like it a little more after we found out what happened before and after.
In Conclusion it was a good story about Hal Jordan and his break down, but you/we really should read the rest of the Return of Superman and whatever was after this. So I would recommend this story if you're a fan of Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern Corps, or are reading some of the newer Green Lantern stuff. Other than that you could just read about Hal and the Corps on Wikipedia.
Next up is The Return of Hawkman
I think I may start linking to the torrents where you can download the books we talk about, if anyone is interested in this leave a comment.

Comic Book Club- Meeting 2

This is our second meeting, and still only Shabazz showed up. Joseph didn't read the comic, mostly because of my iPod and his computer.
We read Identity Crisis by Brad Meltzer. Peciles by Rags Morales, inks by Mike Bair, colors by Alex Sinclair and letters by Kenny Lopex; with Mike Caalin and Valerie D'Orazio as Editor and Assistant Editor. Overall this is one of the best stories I've (and Shabazz) have read. This is the only story I've read by Meltzer but love his work, and I can't wait for more of the new JLA.
*Spoiler Alert* The basis of the story is someone kills Sue Dibney, Elongated Man's wife. But Meltzer takes it MUCH deeper than that: It turns out, Jean Lorring, Ray Palmer's (The Atom) ex wife, steals one of his older suits and steps on Sue's brain to "knock her out", but accidently kills her. She wanted to just hurt her to frighten everyone, including The Atom, so they would turn to their loved ones. It worked, as Ray and Jean got back together, and all the other heroes held their loved ones a little tighter. Until he figured out what she had done. At first a small group of the Justice League believed Dr. Light to have killed Sue because he had previously attacked and raped her. Come to find out that small group had erased his mind and altered his personality, along with Batman's. Batman had came to the tower just has they were erasing his mind and they had to erase Batman's mind also.
The artists did a very nice job. The scene with Dr. Light and Sue was amazing and horrible. Dr. Light looked very sadistic and frightening. They didn't actually show what was happening but you could clearly tell what Dr. Light was doing, which was quite scarey. And the scenes with Robin and his dad were amazing. The first time I read it I was actually scared and sympathetic for Robin, for everyone that lost someone; you could see their fear and pain. And Meltzer taking it that far was incredible. It seems (at least for me) that when someone dies in a comic that it is actually happening, a real story, instead of a movie or game when I know it isn't real and (usually) don't care for the character. But Meltzer and all the other writers made us care for Sue and her death. But in a comic the person is gone, forever, or at least for a while, and you see and feel the emotions of the characters, you have a connection with them. In this story there is about three times when I, or anyone would cry or at least come close to it: Sue's death, Jack's death, and the end.
Although I love this story there are a FEW things that were "wrong". Shabazz noted that it didn't explain how Sue Dibney knew how to tie a bowline knot with a Dutch marine twist (which was a boyscout knot) and why Green Arrow didn't stab Deathstroke in the good eye; Jean went to insane extremes to get Ray back (I know that it was for love but she could have just hired Boomerang to kidnap her or something similar); nothing happened to Lois Lane after she received the threat. Shabazz also said he thought Batman was spying on Ray Palmer (The Atom) and Jean Lorring as he figured out the mystery right when Ray did. But I assume it was just a coincedence or a timing thing, showing they both figured it out. But it does go along with Brother Eye in O.M.A.C. Project with Batman keeping tabs on the heroes.

In conclusion, the story is excellent, the art is superb, the action is action packed and the mystery is suspensful. I would suggest everyone read this, especially if you're reading later stories. A lot of the later stories (Infinite Crisis, 52, Day of Vengeance) reference Sue's death and it's good to know what happened. I hope the new JLA is just as great.

We're not sure what we're reading next. If anyone has any suggestions, please email me or post it in the comments. We're thinking of Quiver (the death and "rebirth" of Green Arrow) or Archer's Quest (a Green Arrow story by Brad Meltzer).

Our first Comic Book Club meeting...

Yesterday (Sunday) was our first meeting. We discussed Day of Vengeance, the Infinite Crisis crossover/prelude.
Shabazz was the only one that showed up, because Joseph's Civil War comics were stolen (he also didn't get the comic) and Chris just sucks. Anyway, we pretty much agreed on everything. Overall it was an OK storyline. I had the trade paperback so I had to inform Shabazz of some stuff. The Nature of Magic prologue was kind of lame but Lightening Strikes Twice was great. I liked the art in it much better that Day of Vengeance. Occasionally in Day of Vengeance it seemed the art was too compacted or "actiony"; I can't think of the right word. In some panels it was hard to tell what was happening. Such as when Ragman is absorbing someone, or the Spectre is taking a soul. Some of the dialog was out of place, especially during the battles. It was funny, just out of place. The overall story was OK. Neither of us were thrilled about it, mainly because we hadn't heard of the Shadowpact and we're not too big on magic. Although I mainly picked it up because I'm getting more into Captain Marvel and wanted to read more of him. I did like the way they left many loose ends to branch out other stories. Such as what happened to Dr. Fate and Madame Xanadu, what will happen to the Shazam magic, what will happen will all the "ancient evils" and seven deadly sins, did any other magic artifacts land, what was up with that girl getting owned by debris, will that old guy destory a city, what will Black Alice do now, and what happens to the Spectre (I guess I could read the new Spectre); Shabazz also mentioned the Atom's (ex)wife obiting the sun. Also we loved the token black bicycler in the third issue when Nightshade and Bobo were in suburbia; he was just funny.

In conclusion, the story wasn't too bad, but could have been better. Willingham (writer) could have introduced some magical heroes early on and have the Spectre kill them, so we would have been attached to them when he killed them, and cared for them. Instead the Spectre mass murdered them in the forest and we didn't see who they were or cared they died. I would probably only recommend this book to someone who was interest in the Shadowpact, Eclipso and the Spectre, the magics. Although it did explain some little things from the later comics. Such as the Shadowpact, The Trials of Shazam, and maybe the Spectre and Blue Beetle. So if you don't plan of reading Day of Vengeance, all you really need to know is: Eclipso came back, seduced the Spectre into destorying all magic, Captain Marvel and the Shadowpact held them off, and Shazam sacrificed himself to "stop" the Spectre.

Next week we're (hopefully Joseph and Chris too) reading Identity Crisis (Brad Meltzer!) and The Amazing Screw-On Head (Mike Mignola!). I've already read Identity Crisis so I know of its awesomeness and I've seen the Screw-On Head pilot and I can't wait to read the original. (I can't wait for Brad Meltzer's JLA).

Oprah's Book Club...for nerds!

I've come up with a GENIUS idea: Oprah's Book Club for comics. It may sound dumb on the surface but let me explain:
It's still a work in progress, but me and some friends decide what book(s) to read for that week. Then, on Sunday we get together and discuss the book(s). Such as, we will talk about the story, what happened, what will happen, catch each other up on the back story, and talk about the art. Pretty much everything (I guess) Oprah does at her book clubs but with comics, and guys. I got the idea from listening to Raging Bullets comic podcast and wanting to talk to them while they were reviewing a book. So I talked to some of my (nerd) friends and they liked the idea, as they also like comics and talking about them.

Up first is the Infinite Crisis crossover Day of Vengeance. I'll post back Sunday on how it went. Next week is at least The Amazing Screw On Head and probably something from Marvel (to please <s>Joseph</s> SymbiotSpider).

Salute Your Shorts on the Tube

<s>I've uploaded 9 episodes of Salute Your Shorts and I plan on uploading a few more.
My playlists-It also has Amazing Screw on Head and The Simpsons animatics</s>

Or if you prefer to download it, here's the torrent

*UPDATE*
Well I have been pwned by YouTube. It's about several people all over the world whom discover they have a super power. It looks like it is/could be a great series, as long as they don't cheese it up. There were a couple of twists and setups that could expand the story (even more); hopefully it will live up to all the hype (it should).
Heroes torrent

I've also "found" the Aquaman pilot screener, <s>which is going to be a mid season replacement on The CW</s> (a merger of the WB and UPN). I've just read that it is definatly NOT going to be a series. I haven't watched it yet, but the trailer for the pilot looked promising.
Aquaman torrent

Also Who Wants To Be a Super Hero aired (I think) tonight. I didn't watch it, but I am going to download it and check it out, just because its "super heroes" and Stan Lee. <s>Other than that, it looks REALLY stupid. From the previews and the website, it looks like some retarded people trying to get into television. There is maybe one or two people that seem like they (the character and person) could make a good "super hero".</s>
*UPDATE*
Ok I just watched WWTBASH and it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. There are still some assinine "heroes", such as Fat Momma and Cell Phone Girl. (damnit, I hate them). Other than the stupid characters, the purpose of the show isn't that bad. Stan Lee is testing the people on being "super human". As in changing into their costume, without being seen, and racing to the finish line. But the true test was to stop and help a lost little girl, which is what a true hero would. So this reality show might not be too bad.
WWTBASH torrent

And Attack of the Show's Comic-Con specials: (via Sladinki007)
7-21-06
7-24-06
7-25-06

Comic Movie News

A lot was/is being accounced at Comic-con. So far: Heath Ledger is playing The Joker in the Batman Begins sequel. The Aquaman trailer is now on iTunes for $1.99. I may end up buying it and posting it. They will be releasing 2-3 movies every year, with titles including Green Lantern (w00t), the Flash, and Wonder Woman. I think i just wet myself. From the look of the trailer, it looks like it may be a darker movie (hopefully) with the usually Michelangelo humour. If you watched the trailer the you (hopefully) noticed they're using all CGI this time; which may or may not be a good thing.
Pros:

A lot more and bigger battles.

More, bigger, and better effects.

Better/more elaborate camera work.

Easier to control lighting and mood.

Better Lipsych.

It will all blend together, instead of having live action actors and CGI.

Cons:

Not as nostalgic.

Could be seen as more for children (as in resembling a "cartoon")

Won't be as dramatic as seeing 4 "real life" turtles on the screen.

But either way I will definantly be seeing it in theaters; The Ninja Turtles rock. Hopefully it will be a darker movie, maybe with actually killing.

Image and links

I just thought this was funny:

Because YouTube deleted my Brian Posehn interview, I've uploaded it to rapidshare.
Snick422's Blog
Zarl William's blog
Bank Locator's blog
Ctrl+Alt+Del comic
Afrotech Mods-rocks your mom.
Metku-where I started modding.
Bleach Eating Freaks-ummm yea
Replacementdocs.com-incase you "lost" a manual to a (pirated) game.

Amazing Screw On Head

Based on the comic; from the creator of Hellboy, Mike Mignola, comes a potential new show for the Sci-Fi channel. Right now it's just a pilot, but if enough people vote for it it may become a show. It's pretty awesome: hilarity, vampires, zombies, Patton Oswalt, a butler, "history", and Paul Giamatti as the Amazing Screw on Head. So after you love it, make sure you go to scifi.com and fill out the survey to make this a series.
The premise is President Lincoln calls for the help of the Amazing Screw On Head to help with various national problems, that will be erased from the history books. I created a layout in Photoshop and threw it into Dreamweaver. I had almost everything working, but couldn't seem to get the posts to work like I wanted; also the styles didn't seem to work in Firefox. So I've started over and created a new layout, and maybe I/a friend can get it working right.

If anyone thinks they can help, I'm trying to get the left pane (and maybe the right pane)to "expand" down as more posts are added (or as more archives or whatever are added); I saw it on the template Top Secret.

As for other news: Comedy Central has a killer lineup on Sundays now, as does Adult Swim but thats not really new. I don't remember the exact schedule, but it was Chappelle's Lost Episodes, Mind of Mencia, Reno 911, so I would recommend torrenting those; also Dane Cook's Tourgasm and Entourage (I've started watching it this season, and it's pretty good). Oh and UFC 61 was Saturday so I'd recommend picking that up too.

Acid Lounge-super fast bittorrent site

If anyone is interested I have 10 invites for Acid-Lounge.net. So I'm really typing to myself, so if I read this it's kind of like I'm talking to myself...from the past. If only I had some nifty wisdom for myself.
Anyway, I did the calculations for Superman Returns and Superman would have to fly at 20 times the speed of light to reach Krypton, which is agreed to be 50 light years away, in about 2.5 years. And according to most fansites, forums and comics, Superman can at MOST travel at a little over the speed of light (most sources say he flys at 30,000 mph in atmosphere and about 300 million mph in space, assuming he doesn't have to hold his breath). So it would take the speediest of Supermans to reach Krypton in 50 years. So Bryan Singer, I call SHENANIGANS on Superman's speedy trip.
Other than that, Superman Returns is an excellant movie.
*UPDATE*
OK, I recently realized that Superman went to Krypton in his spaceship. I guess I just forgot about it. Also its speed is roughly the same as the first movie and in Smallville. I realize I am a n00b ;)
Also according to Computer Graphics World, Superman flew ~1200mph in Maya.
